“The Marlin” is the most advanced KDfoil tail created to date.
Ideal for high efficiency applications- winging, downwind, pumping, speed. This tail excels in it's unbelievable glide.
For this generation of tails, I took a hard look at the most loved production and prototype tails with the goal of creating a line featuring some of the best aspects of each. The knowledge gained through this allowed these new tails to surpass the old in almost every way; The entire tail design, down to every detail was rethought.
The “Marlin” has surpassed all my expectations. From the first prototype, testers were leaving the water grinning ear-to-ear!
Key features:
-Airfoils are now better matched to the Cl, AoA, and Re range. Much lower drag above takeoff speeds.
-Airfoils are thicker for a stiffer structure allowing for smaller chords and better durability.
-Planform (outline) tuned for maximum efficiency and increased safety.
-Anhedral has been simplified to facilitate more accurate hand finishing. Tighter tolerance means a better performing tail.
Compromises:
-Higher takeoff speed than R/Boomerang
-lower turning/size ratio than blunt (less “snappy”)
