FAQ

Q: Which tailwing do I buy? !NEW SIZING!

A:  Allow me to introduce the “Lift Rating”. This is a numbering system that allows for easy comparison of the high speed lift and versatility of different tails. Use this scale in combination with description and span to get a good idea of what to expect. Lower span= smoother, faster turning.

350 and under is a very low lift tail. Tails in this range are well matched with longer fuselages or foils with very high top speed. They will offer lower drag, stability, and versatility.

350-450 is a good place to start for most surf and wing foilers. A tail near here will be very versatile and well behaved on most foils.

450 and above will be stable tails. These are well matched with large front wings and long masts. This is for someone looking for a KD tail with extra stability and ease of use.

KD tails are generally set close to their most efficient angle/lift setting. Lift can be changed as needed using shims. 0.5° = ~50

Q: Tailwing makes noise.

A: Even with the time and attention to detail that goes into these wings, a few will end up making noise. Reef contact can also cause noise. This isn't a huge problem though, as its fairly easy to fix with some fine grit sandpaper and 5 min of your time!

Levitaz foils made a great guide video that id recommend following to fix noise:

Q: My tail wing doesn't ride or mount right.

A: This is most likely a mounting issue, make sure your wing is facing the correct direction, with the round, leading edge forwards, and with the wingtips and curved top surface facing downwards.

If it's still off, check that the flat top surface is pointing level, or slightly down relative to the rest of your fuselage. this can be corrected with shims.
